LCP < 1.5s Page Performance Project

Take a slow real-world page (LCP > 3s) and ship it to LCP < 1.5s on 4G. Document every optimization.

About this project

Performance is the senior-engineer skill that AI cannot replace easily — it requires reading flame graphs, understanding browser internals, and trading correctness for speed. This project starts with a deliberately-slow Next.js or Astro site (or pick any open-source site). Your job: measure, profile, optimize, and re-measure. The writeup is the deliverable — recruiters love to see "I cut LCP from 3.2s to 1.4s by X, Y, Z".

Why build this in 2026?

Core Web Vitals are now ranking factors and the bar has tightened. Senior frontend engineers must own performance budgets.

What you'll ship

  • GitHub repo with before/after branches
Detailed performance writeup (1500+ words)
WebPageTest comparison links (before/after)
