About this project
Observability vendors are expensive; many companies are bringing it in-house in 2026. This project teaches the OSS observability stack: OpenTelemetry collectors, Tempo for traces, Loki for logs, Mimir/Prometheus for metrics, Grafana for dashboards. You will instrument a sample app, ship the data, and build dashboards that surface the 3 things every service needs (RED + latency).
Why build this in 2026?
Datadog bills are now CFO-level conversations. Engineers who can run the OSS stack in production are scarce.
